Tenerife Airport Taxis vs Private Transfers (2026)
By Carhola Tenerife
Tenerife South airport taxis vs fixed-price private transfers: real meter prices to Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos & Puerto de la Cruz, plus queue tips.

Tenerife South Airport taxis: what to expect
Official taxis at Tenerife South Airport (TFS) wait at the marked rank just outside the Arrivals hall. They are white with red signage saying Granadilla de Abona and a roof sign, run on a regulated meter, and the driver must hand you a receipt on request. There is no fixed airport tariff to most resorts — the meter starts at the regulated drop-flag and adds distance and time. Expect a queue at peak times (mid-morning UK and German flight banks, and Sunday afternoons), and remember the rank is for the next available car.
Indicative meter prices from Tenerife South (TFS)
TFS → Los Cristianos: ~€25–€30
TFS → Playa de las Américas: ~€30–€35
TFS → Costa Adeje (most hotels): ~€35–€45
TFS → La Caleta / Playa Paraíso: ~€45–€50
TFS → Callao Salvaje / Alcalá: ~€50–€65
TFS → Los Gigantes: ~€65–€85
TFS → Puerto de la Cruz (north coast): ~€125–€140
Prices are meter estimates for a 4-seat taxi in normal traffic; night, Sunday and public-holiday tariffs are higher, and a small per-suitcase supplement may apply. Always confirm with the driver before departure.
Tenerife North Airport taxis (TFN)
TFN handles mostly inter-island and mainland Spain flights, so the rank is smaller and turnover faster. Typical meter prices: TFN → Puerto de la Cruz €30–€38, TFN → Santa Cruz €18–€24, TFN → La Laguna €12–€16, TFN → Costa Adeje €95–€100.
Private airport transfers: how they differ
A private transfer is pre-booked online before you fly. The price is fixed at the time of booking — it does not change with traffic, the number of bags, night surcharges or Sunday tariffs. The driver tracks your flight, helps with luggage, and takes you directly to your hotel or villa door. There is no queue and no meter anxiety. For families and groups, you can book the exact vehicle size you need (saloon, estate, 6-seat MPV, 8-seat minibus) instead of accepting whatever taxi is next in line.

Which one should you choose?
Choose an official taxi if you are a solo traveller with one case, arriving mid-week well off-peak, staying within 10 minutes of the airport, and comfortable paying whatever the meter shows.
Choose a private transfer if convenience matters most: no queue after a long flight, a fixed price agreed before you fly, a multilingual driver (English, Spanish, Dutch, French, German) tracking your flight and waiting at Arrivals with help for your luggage and free child seats. Ideal for couples, families and groups alike — and the only sensible option for Costa Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz or any resort more than 15 minutes from the airport.
